Organizations can have hierarchies and form parent-child relationships. A parent organization may have child organizations for different branches or divisions. Rhythm has the capability to allow you or your users to link their organization to their parent organization. Contacts from the parent organization, with defined permissions, can make changes to those child organizations in the portal. Rhythm also can flowdown membership from the parent organization to the child organizations.
Adding Parent Organization Field
- Open the Contacts & Organizations application
- Click Setup
- Organizations
- Forms
- Create a new organization form or click the pencil icon to edit an existing form
- Click the Add Component button to add a Field Group to the form, or click the pencil icon to edit an existing Field Group
- Select the Parent Organization built-in field
- Save changes
- Save the form
- Click Configure Defaults
- Select the form for each action in the console and portal
- You can use the same form for all actions or you can assign a specific form to each action
- Remember to add the Parent Organization built-in field to each form that you would like to use
- Save changes
How to add a Parent Organization
- On the Rolodex (CRM) Overview page, click Create a New Organization
- Select the Organization Type
- Configured in Setup > Organizations > Types
- Fill in any required fields
- Assign a Parent Organization
- Save changes
To assign an existing organization a parent organization:
- Search for an existing organization
- Click Edit this Organization
- Assign a Parent Organization
- Save changes
The parent organization's name will appear below the child organization's name. When viewing a parent organization, click on the Child Organizations tab to see all child organizations associated with the parent organization.
Providing Child Organizations with Parent Membership Benefits
- Go to the Membership and Committees app
- Click Setup
- Click Membership
- Click Types
- Edit an Organization Membership Type
- Turn on Membership Flow Down
- Click Enable Cascading Flowdown
- Here you can select specific types of organizations that should receive this flowdown. If all child organizations should receive it then you can leave this blank
- Click Save Changes
- Click Maintenance Tasks
- Click Reprocess Flowdown
- This will give membership from the parent organization to the child organizations
- This only needs to be done once when the cascading flowdown is enabled
