Oftentimes, associations want to make it easier for members and constituents to purchase multiple items at once - in one, simple transaction. Rhythm's Universal Shopping Cart functionality makes that possible. This is a great option when:
- People want to register for multiple webinars at once
- An office administrator wants to bundle multiple membership applications and merchandise for their staff into one order
- A team leader wants to register multiple members of their staff for courses or exams
Warning: Offerings in the Universal Shopping Cart bypass any configured processes - including any information captured in your application or registration forms. While expedient, this may not be appropriate for your association, so please carefully consider which items you want to make available in the online store. If you need help determining the best course of action, please reach out to customer support.
Initial Setup
- Navigate to the Orders + Inventory app.
- In the left toolbar, select Setup and then Stores.
- Click the Create Store button or click the pencil icon to edit an existing store.
- Give the store a name, and the ID will auto-generate.
Helpful Hint: If you sell merchandise and don't want your offerings intermingled, you can create another store to keep things separate. This also allows you to restrict visibility in the portal using security policies for specific contact roles and more. Remember that you will have to create a new portal page, and assign the store ID to the portal component.
Sell Membership Packages
- Enter a name for the category.
- Determine which membership types should be available in the store:
- All membership types
- Only certain membership types
- All membership types except those selected
- Determine which membership packages should be available in the store:
- All membership packages
- Only certain membership packages
- All membership packages except those selected
- Choose an image to be shown for the membership packages. If you do not select an image, the default merchandise image will be used.
Helpful Hint: If someone is purchasing a membership along with other items that have special member pricing, they will receive the discount at checkout.
Sell Courses
- Determine which course types should be available in the store:
- All course types
- Only certain course types
- All course types except those selected
- Determine which courses should be available in the store:
- All courses
- Only certain courses
- All courses except those selected
- Choose an image to be shown for the courses. If you do not select an image, the default merchandise image will be used.
Helpful Hint: We know one course can be offered multiple times throughout the year. That's why at checkout, the user will be prompted to select the specific course offering they want.
Sell Certification Exams
- Determine which exams should be available in the store:
- All exams
- Only certain exams
- All exams except those selected
- Choose an image to be shown for the exams. If you do not select an image, the default merchandise image will be used.
Helpful Hint: We know an exam can be offered multiple times throughout the year, even in multiple locations. That's why at checkout, the user will be prompted to select the specific exam offering they want.
Sell Event Registration Packages
- Determine which event types should be available in the store:
- All event types
- Only certain event types
- All event types except those selected
- Determine which courses should be available in the store:
- All events
- Only certain events
- All events except those selected
- Choose an image to be shown for the events. If you do not select an image, the default merchandise image will be used.
Helpful Hint: By default, all registration packages tied to an event will appear in the online store. However, you can exclude specific registration packages by editing the registration package and selecting the Hide from Online Store option.
